That thankfulnesse yor fauours haue begot [241] |
In mee, embalmes mee, that I doe not rott. |
This season, as tis Easter, as tis spring |
Must both to growthe and to confession bring |
My thoughts disposd vnto yor Influence; so |
These verses budd, so these confessions growe. |
ffirst I confesse I haue to others lent |
Yor stock, and ouer-prodigally spent |
Yor treasure. For since I had never knowne |
Vertue or beauty, but as they are growne |
In you, I should not thinke or say they shine |
(So as I haue) in any other mine. |
Next I confesse this my confession. |
ffor tis some fault, thus much to touch vpon |
Yor prayse to you, where halfe rights seeme too much |
And make yor minds sincere complexion blush |
Next I confesse my Impenitence, for I |
Can scarse repent my first fault, since thereby |
Remote lowe spirits w.ch shall ne're reade you |
May in lesse lessons find enough to doe |
By studying coppyes not originals |
The rest wants. |
|
The rest w.ch was left out before pag |

So did I humbly reverence each degree |
Of Fayre Greate Good; but more, now I am come |
From hauing found theyr walkes to find theyr home. |
And as I owe my first soules thankes that they |
ffor my last soule did fitt and mould my clay: |
So am I debtour vnto them whose worth |
Enabled mee to profit and take forth |
This new greate lesson thus to study you |
Which, none not reading others first, could doe
