If poysonous Minerals, & if that tree [f. 35] |
Whose fruite threw death on els immortall vs, |
If Lecherous gotes, if Serpents envious |
Cannot be damn'd, alas why should I bee? |
Why should intent, or reason, borne in me |
Make Sins els equall, in me more hainous? |
And mercy beeing easy, and glorious |
To God in his sterne wrath why threatens hee? |
But who am I yt dare dispute wt thee |
O God? O of thyne only worthy blood |
And my teares make a heauenly Lethean flood |
And drowne in it, my Sins blacke memoree. |
That thou remember thē, Some clayme as dett |
I thinke it Mercy if thou wilt forgett. |

If faythfull Soules be alike glorified |
As Angels, then my fathers Soule doth see |
And ads this even to full felicitee |
That valiantly'I hells wide mouth orestride. |
But if or Minds to these Soules be discride |
By Circumstances, & by Signes yt bee |
Apparant in vs, not immediatlee |
How shall my Minds whight truthe to them be tride? |
They see Idolatrous Lovers weepe & mourne |
And vile blasphemous Coniurers to call |
On Iesus Name, and pharasaicall |
Dissemblers feigne devotion: then turne |
O pensive Soule to God; for he knowes best |
Thy true griefe, for he put it in my brest. |
